Music Video Analysis - Justin Bieber - Baby
Filming
for the music video began during the week of January 25, 2010, in Los Angeles.
It was filmed at Universal CityWalk by director Ray Kay.
Ludacris
said that the video “is like a 2010 version of Michael
Jackson’s “The
Way You Make Me Feel”.
Bieber
said the the video “will capture the song’s message of trying to woo back a girl.” in explaining the concept of the video,
Bieber said, “It starts off, I really like this
girl, but we didn’t get along; we couldn’t be together. Basically I want her back
and I’m kind of going through the whole
thing. I’m chasing her around, trying to get
her, and she’s kind of playing hard to get, but
I’m persistent. I keep going.”
The
video takes place in a mall-like setting with a bowling alley and more.
Singer
and actress Jasmine Villegas portrays Bieber’s love interest in the video. Biebers friends, Young Money artists Drake
and Lil Twist also appear in the video, along with Tinashe Kachingwe and jerkin’
crew The Rangers.

search for my song
my brother has always been a musician since I can remember and I have grown up listening to his music.
He always writes his own songs as well as being able to play the guitar, bass an drums.
he had a btec in musical performance and is currently attending city of Westminster studying music technology.
I am glad I have chosen to use my brothers music for my song and music video because I am very familiar with his songs and I am able to choose from a wide variety of his songs to pick which one i prefer the most and I would feel the most comfortable working with.

Directors Commentary
The scene is first set with a long establishing shot of one of the protagonists Jemma. This shows the surroundings and that they are in a public park on a normal day.
The film score is of a non-diagetic string orchestra which shows the setting is calm.
Whilst putting in the titles I had to use a wire frame to allow the text to move around the screen and I also used the overlay boundaries to make sure they were on the screen.
I had to make sure all the titles were the right size and colour and that they were in the right place. I made the title of the film in red to resemble the Devil and the rest of the titles in white so that they stand out to the audience.
The non-diagetic music stops and you can hear the diagetic sound of the protagonists. The music then comes back but it is more of a dramatic sound, and this is used when Jemma discovers the body in the bushes.
An over the shoulder shot of the phone is used to make the audience see what the character is seeing so that they can feel as if they are in her shoes.
